Our mission is to advance learning.

We've been here since 1992.
The Searle Center was established in 1992, in response to faculty and administrators calling for a designated unit devoted to teaching and learning in higher education.

The Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching focuses on enhancing learning and teaching at all levels of the University

Through its wide range of programs, services, and research, the Center seeks to assist all members of the Northwestern community in developing highly effective learning environments and experiences for their students, their colleagues, and themselves.

We collaborate with with partners locally and globally.

Our programs encourage early-career and advanced faculty to think critically about pedagogy and their role as educators. We create opportunities for faculty to connect with and learn from peers across the university.

We invite new and advanced graduate students and postdocs to meet, discuss, and learn together to improve their teaching skills.

We help undergraduates develop as classroom leaders and advance their own success in the classroom.
