The series is a set of 3 one-hour sessions that will bring together a 3-session faculty cohort to discuss topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in teaching and learning in remote learning environments. During these roundtable discussions, participants will engage in dialogue with fellow attendees on selected readings as well as share their personal thoughts, questions, insights, and experiences with engaging in DEI work in higher education. The Seat at the Table series aims to create awareness about the importance of fostering inclusive classrooms and learning environments and to provide a space in which individuals can work together to further their understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Excellence in Teaching Alliance

Faculty Open Classroom Initiative

FOCI is a week-long program to promote open conversation about learning and teaching across Northwestern. FOCI seeks to make teaching more transparent and public by providing opportunities for faculty across disciplines to open their classrooms and to visit colleagues’ classrooms. Modeled after Yale University’s Faculty Bulldog Days, FOCI offers opportunities for collaboration, learning new ways of teaching, discussing challenges, and sharing experiences.

The New Faculty Workshop is designed to introduce instructors to several key aspects of learning and teaching, to reflect critically on their own practice as educators, and to apply theory and research to practice.

Join colleagues in the upcoming Addressing Evolving Needs with Universal Design for Learning Practicum, a three-week, cohort-based online program designed for instructors of all levels, backgrounds, and teaching contexts to reflect on the evolving needs of students and instructors, with an emphasis on mental health.
